A modified version of the TIE Bomber, the TIE/tb is designed exclusively to carry a heavy load of torpedoes. The TIE/tb is easily recognized by its extremely odd solar panel placement. The double-hull has been replaced with a single pilot's pod, and mounted above this is a large solar panel/torpedo bay. Though deadly, this prototype was not very practical, and the Imperial navy found it just as well to outfit a TIE Bomber with a full load of torpedoes.
