Alderaan Royal Engineers

Known as a peaceful people, the Alderaanians did not turn out many warcraft, but undoubtedly many of the starships we have seen in the past have been the brainchilds of Alderaanian minds.

ARE's era of dominance was during the Clone Wars, when they manufactured widely-used ion drives. They were also a prominent starship manufacturer during most of the Old Republic. ARE was most famous for their luxury yachts, space stations, and exotic vessels. Stronger corporations such as the Kuat Drive Yards, which provided ships for the Empire, arose and overcame ARE, which was forced to lay low during the New Order. ARE was also part of the secret rearmament program that was initiated on Alderaan, but never got the chance after the first Death Star destroyed the planet Alderaan

Unfortunately for the Alderaanians, they did not love peace enough, their leaders choosing rather to support an uprising against the Empire. Hence, there will be no new ship designs coming from Alderaan.
